Advice

So far, Mark and I have received a wide range of advice from missionaries and world travelers as well as people who have never left the state.  Some of it I print out and highlight and add to my folder.  Other suggestions make me giggle inside while I smile and nod.  Sometimes I've had directly contradictory advice come from two different people although I respect and admire both of them.  Since I've never moved overseas, I'm open to helpful comments and suggestions.  Ultimately, however, Mark and I will make decisions that are unique to our personalities, needs, and convictions, and we'll also be the ones living with the outcome!

Inspired to write a poem? Sabrina was.

It’s hard to leave California,
And friends we’ve enjoyed all these years.
There’ll be lots of hugs and kisses,
And maybe a few little tears.

The highway of our life has changed;
We’re sure God’s map says, “Uruguay,”
That’s our final destination,
With two short stops along the way.

First, we’ll drive to Colorado,
We’ll see dunes and mountains snowy.
After five long weeks of study,
We’ll pack our bags and get going.

When we’re done with Colorado
        And our missionary training,
We’ll be off to Costa Rica,
        Where it’s tropical and rainy.

A storm rolls in each afternoon,
        Though morning skies predicted clear.
Once in a while there’s an earthquake,
-But we’re only there for a year.

We’ll grab our suitcases once more,
Again, we will all say, “Goodbye.”
We’ll board a plane to Uruguay,
        To South America we’ll fly.   ~Sabrina :)
